One of the donghua BL trinity from the works of Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is coming back from Tencent for their 2021-2022 Chinese anime lineup and that is Scumbag System Season 2 (Chuan Shu Zijiu Zhinan) or also known as Scum Villain Self-Saving System which first premiered in September 2020 from the new animation studio Djinn Power.

Chuan Shu Zijiu Zhinan: Xian Meng Pian is the full title of Scumbag System Season 2 which had been unveiled by Tencent during their 2021 Conference on August 8 where they revealed their list of upcoming donghua projects for the rest of the year and 2022. Djinn Power is returning as the animation studio despite the internal conflict that he had from last year which almost resulted in the series being canceled just right after its completion last year.
Alright, so Tencent has unveiled a new key visual for Scumbag System and the first promotional video which gave us our first look into it which features Shen Qiao seems to pay the price for his action from the previous season no matter how hard he tries to avoid his apparent demise with Luo Binghe seems to strengthen his cultivation and gotten stronger a lot.

Now, fans of the novel and donghua are simply excited about what will happen next after the series had left us with such a huge cliffhanger.
Scumbag System donghua is based on a popular danmei (BL) novel of the same title by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, the author who also wrote Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heaven Official’s Blessing, both had been adapted into donghua and had been among the most popular Chinese anime in recent years. The Scumbag System novel was first published in 2015 and run for 81 chapters with 20 side stories which had been published by Seven Seas and jjwxc.
This is the story of a guy who transmigrates into the scum villain of one of those harem xuanhuan/xianxia novels. The scum villain, Shen Qingqiu, is one of those looks-noble-but-is-actually-a-hypocrite types. Shen Qingqiu’s disciple, Luo Binghe, is the main character of the novel who gradually turns darker as tragic events occur upon him. With the help of a very troll system, the new Shen Qingqiu tries to stay alive by staying on Luo Binghe’s good side, as the original Shen Qingqiu treated Luo Binghe badly, thus receiving a horrifying ending. However, Shen Qingqiu’s plan of staying alive is not as simple as it seems as he soon finds out that the system limits his actions. (Source: CNovels; edited)
