From the author of Stellar Transformations, Snow Eagle Lord, and Swallowed Star; I Eat Tomatoes, here comes a new donghua that fans of Chinese cultivation anime should watch out for, it is Pan Long or Coiling Dragon, also known as Crouching Dragon.

Coiling Dragon was one of the upcoming donghua which was unveiled and announced during the 2022 Tencent Video Animation Conference on which it joined several highly anticipated donghua sequels and newly adapted works among the lineup of the Chinese giant company for the year 2022 and for the next year.
The new donghua as I’ve mentioned earlier is adapted from a novel by I Eat Tomatoes and offers a new take on the shounen plot in Chinese donghua with magic, revenge, and an anti-hero story among its major elements. The novel itself is dubbed as an indirect prequel to Stellar Transformations, hence, fans of the latter should definitely keep an eye on this.
It also highlights other tropes common in Chinese donghua such as body tempering, having beast companions, from weak to strong cliche, betrayal, Dao comprehension, and many more. I must say that this is also a must-watch for avid fans of novels such as Martial God Asura, Against the Gods, I Shall Seal the Heavens, and Warlock of the Magus World.
Synopsis
Linley is a young noble of a declining, once-powerful clan that once dominated the world. He has large aspirations and wants to save his clan. Linley’s journey begins with an accident when he discovers a ring. He took a liking to this ring, which had dragon-carved coiling around it. Upon being injured during a battle between two powerful fighters he discovers that his ring is not what he thought it was and possesses powers beyond his imagination.

Coiling Dragon was also adapted into a manhua of the same name in 2013 which was published in 2016. It has a total of 170 chapters with art drawn by Yi Tong.

Unfortunately, the Coiling Dragon donghua production committee hasn’t unveiled any details yet about its production and release date. It only means that we can only wait until Tencent released new updates about it.
