From the announcement of Battle Through the Heavens Season 5, a reboot of the 1st season, and special episodes that feature Xiao Yan’s fight against Nalan Yanran for their 3 Year Agreement, Tencent has unveiled a triple treat for the fans of the popular series.

Battle Through The Heavens Season 4 is nearing its end yet many fans had been surprised when Tencent Video Animation has announced during their 2021 conference last August 8 that the series is coming back for its 5th season. The announcement was also accompanied by 2 more surprises. Now, get ready as we should all look forward to the beginning of a new adventure on Battle Through the Heavens Season 5 Episode 1 possibly next year.

First is the reboot of the 1st season of Battle Through the Heavens. This time, Motion Magic is rebooting the entire Battle Through the Heavens Season 1 which was first animated by Shanghai Foch Film in 2017. I think this is understandable so we can have uniformed character designs. It is noticeable that the 1st season had different designs from its sequels, starting from the 1st season’s special episodes until the ongoing 4th season.
For fans who may not know it, the current designs and animation quality was provided by Motion Magic which took over the series after its 1st season concluded from Shanghai Foch Film. There’s a huge difference in character designs that people may remember, especially for Xiao Yan, Nalan Yanran, Xunér, and Yao Lao. Unfortunately, Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 will be quite delayed because of this.
Dou Po Cangqiong: San Nian Zhi Yao
The second surprise from Tencent is that we shall be having other special episodes after the 4th season. It will serve as the bridge between the 4th season and the upcoming 5th season. Based on the available trailer, these specials may cover the highly anticipated battle of Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran to fulfill their 3-Year Agreement, the catalyst that starts the story of the series. As a novel reader, I am excited about this as this will feature a lot of revelations and surprises.
